Treatment for Teens

The most common age range for starting orthodontic treatment is between 11 and 15 years old. By this age, most—if not all—permanent teeth have erupted, making it easier to identify and address issues like crowding, spacing, and bite problems.

Because these issues typically don’t resolve on their own and often worsen once growth stops, the teenage years provide the perfect window for orthodontic care. Not only is treatment more efficient during this time, but teens also tend to adapt quickly to braces or clear aligners—especially when motivated by the goal of a great smile.

How Long Will Treatment Take?

We know that teens (and their parents) are eager to see results, so we work hard to make your treatment as quick, smooth, and efficient as possible.

The length of treatment varies depending on a few key factors:

  • The complexity of the orthodontic issues
  • The type of treatment chosen
  • The patient’s growth and development
  • Most importantly: patient cooperation

You play a big role in your own success! Keeping your teeth and appliances clean, wearing rubber bands as instructed, avoiding foods that could damage braces, and coming to all scheduled appointments with us can significantly reduce treatment time and help you achieve your best possible smile, faster.
